Answer: Leadership in a diversity environment Good leadership is crucial to the growth, sustainability and overall betterment of business, company and or an organization. People live in an evidently uncertain period in the business environment, and a great leader should be organizationally agile especially if in a multicultural set up (Chuah, 2013). One needs to put into consideration that the world has become a global village and that diversity can bring to the table positive effects if properly managed and can adversely affect an organization if mismanaged. Advantages of diversity in an organization Diversified Innovation Diversity encompasses several attributes of the people in an organization from the race, gender, talent, the level of education and so fort.h (Harvey, C, Allard, M, 2015). An organization looking into starting a new project would benefit extensively benefit from considering the thoughts, ideas, and skills of these very different individuals while addressing the way forward for that particular project or any other innovations. Better service delivery A good leader does his or her best to ensure that an organization's Vision, Mission, and Purpose are achieved. A great leader should understand the impact that comes with having a diversified people in the organization can have in ensuring the accomplishment of these practices. That being said it is important to realize that having a diversified workforce can come in handy especially if dealing with an assorted clientele. For example, an African-American in an organization will better understand the needs of an African-American client hence better service delivery. Increased Market Share Having an assorted array of individuals in an organization can prove beneficial regarding the portion of the market controlled by that particular organization. Increased global understanding, new language skills etc. can all have a huge positive influence on the performance of the organization on the market. Retaining and Advancing talent A good leader should ensure that all people in the organization feel welcomed and accepted (Barak, 2016). This ensures that the workforce feels appreciated and remains loyal. This can go a long way in retaining talent. Stability combined with a conducive working environment is almost a guarantee that great talent can be developed even to achieve more. Challenges associated with diversity in an organization and their solutions Language and Cultural barrier This is the most common problem affecting a diversified workforce. It can however not be understated as it impedes ones of the most crucial aspect of workplace co-existence, effective communication (Kirton, G, Greene, A, 2015). One might not be able to express themselves, give directions, etc. This can be mitigated by taking measures such as translating all documents and or having an interpreter. Stubbornness to change and discrimination Some people in an organization may be reluctant to accept the fact that the world is becoming more and more diversified and may cause unnecessary stress to other workmates. If this goes unchecked, there could be issues of discrimination leading poor performance at the organization. This can be addressed by inaugurating and enforcing diversity policy and penalizing offenders.
